Mango Lassi

Lassi refers to Indian yogurt drinks that are mixed with a variety of spices, sweeteners (honey, sugar), water, and/or milk. Sometimes lassi is topped with grounded nuts to enhance the flavour. They may be either sweet or salty, but the most popular flavour for Indian restaurants in the west is definitely mango. Not only is it a delicious cooling drink that soothes the tongue after a spicy meal, but it is also nutritious and easy to make!

If you’ve never had it before, you are in for a treat. It basically tastes like a mango milkshake, and sometimes called as such in restaurants.

Delicious companion to an Indian meal

There are many variations of recipes, including this one from Manjula’s Kitchen. But basically all you need is a can of mangoes, water, milk, and yogurt (all cooled) + a blender. It’s unfortunate that mango lassi can be priced quite high (Up to over 4 Euro for a small glass) so it’s really worth making it yourself!
